John Maynard Keynes (5 June 1883 – 21 April 1946) was a British economist.

His most famous work was a book published in 1936 called The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money. This work laid out the basic economic theory that spawned an interventionist school of economic thought called Keynesianism or Keynesian economics whose proponents are commonly referred to as Keynesians.
