Alien and Sedition Acts

The Alien and Sedition Acts were several pieces of legislation passed in the 2nd session of the 5th US Congress. The acts referred to are:
- June 25, 1798: An Act concerning Aliens ("Alien Friends Act")
- July 14, 1798: An Act for the Punishment of Certain Crimes against the United States ("Sedition Act")
In addition, the following two acts are sometimes considered to be part of the group:
- June 18, 1798: An Act to Establish a Uniform Rule of Naturalization ("Naturalization Act")
- July 6, 1798: An Act Respecting Alien Enemies ("Alien Enemies Act")
All are now expired except the Alien Enemies Act.
