Thank you for writing this well-written, -organized, and -thought-out page. I'm very much in favor of putting one's thoughts into an essay, since it allows one to say, Please see Essay:... rather than, Please see this page in the talk page archives. See also metawikipedia:Advantages of essays. Nathan Larson (talk) 14:12, 29 November 2012 (MSK)

No problem, there is still room for improvement. :)
I noticed that the link to my custom search engine I was trying to add was blocked by a spamfilter. (See it on my userpage.) Is that intended? Pestergaines (talk) 15:40, 29 November 2012 (MSK)
mw:Extension:SpamBlacklist periodically polls metawikipedia:Spam blacklist, which contains the item \bgoogle\..{1,5}/cse\b . I have added it to the whitelist. In my opinion, meta's processes, practices, etc. concerning the spam blacklist are dysfunctional and err on the side of blocking pages for all sorts of dubious (including, sometimes, political) reasons, many of which are irrelevant to spam management, and especially spam management on this wiki. Hmm, I haven't been paying attention to the types of URLs added by our spammers, but if we could discern a pattern, we might consider adding some items to our own blacklist. I've added the link now. Let's see if anyone actually uses that particular link type for spamming. Pestergaines (talk) 16:21, 29 November 2012 (MSK)
