Straw man

A straw argument. Libertarians don't claim that eliminating the minimum wage would improve workers' play. They claim that it would reduce unemployment.

A straw man argument is one that distorts an opponent's arguments in order to weaken them and thereby make it easier to refute them. Straw manning is considered a violation of the conventions of constructive argumentation.[citation needed]
