Welcome!

Nice work on your first entry, Mike! I threw in a few extra touches. Hope they are ok. -- RayBirks 18:35, 28 November 2010 (CST)

Signing your name

Hey, Mike! Thanks for your kind words, and let me know if I can help with an occasional question.

A suggestion: A pre-programmed way for you to sign your name to any posts is to use four consecutive tildes, like this: ~~~~. That automatically puts in your username and the date & time stamp as well. Me, I throw in two hyphens and a space character. Hope this helps a little! -- RayBirks 20:01, 28 November 2010 (CST)

Descriptions when creating new pages

Way to go, Mike! You are movin', man!

I do have a question: Somehow, when you create an article, the description is really long and is getting truncated when viewing the creation "event" on the history of the page and in the "Recent Changes" page. Traditionally, from what I have seen (more often than not), the description should be clear and succinct and fit into the upper limit of some number of characters (which I don't know). One example I've seen and like: "create article with content from wiki-en". You might try the "Show preview" button before committing and first eyeball how the description will appear.

So, nothing serious, and hope you're having fun! -- RayBirks 17:48, 29 November 2010 (CST)

Oops, I said "description", and what I mean is the Summary: box, the long white rectangle down near the Save page and Show preview buttons when you're preparing or editing text. That's where you would type your "succinct and clear" descriptions. Let me know of any questions. --RayBirks 17:55, 29 November 2010 (CST)
