Communist Manifesto: in November 1847, the Communist League, a newly formed international group, commissioned Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels to draw up a party platform or program for the League. Originally written in German, it appeared on the eve of the 1848 European revolutions which the authors apparently looked upon as the dawn of a communist era. As the best known piece of socialist literature, it has formed the basis of many anticapitalistic movements and should be read for an understanding of the increasing acceptance of the principles of interventionism and socialism during the last century.[1]
