Sweden and Peace

Well Sweden has been at war after 1809 we took Norway when they didn´t want to be ruled by Sweden (as said in the Danish-Swedish peace treaty) in 1814. It was very brief and Norway surrendered quickly.

Also technicaly since Sweden is a UN member Sweden was at war with Iraq during the first Gulf War. 85.228.57.204 00:55, 14 March 2011 (CDT)

Private Funding of a Warship

In 1912 the liberal government had deccided not to order the F-boat a "Coastal battleship" a type used by all the nordic countries but this ship being more modern utilising the experiences of the Russo-Japanese War. However with people worrying about the risk of war due to the European arms race a fundraising campaign was started. With more then enough money for the ship raised the money was turned over to the governement, however the parliament was split many of the liberal party didn´t want the ship despite the fundraising but with a narrow margin the money was accepted and the ship ordered.

The Ship became the "HMS Sverige" (HSwMS Sweden) and she was launched in 1915 and completed in 1917, there was also enough money over to produce Swedens first three mine sweepers to protect the ship. As the Great War broke out the governemnt ordered two aditional ships in the class, payed with taxpayer money. 85.228.57.204 00:55, 14 March 2011 (CDT)
