The Essential von Mises is a monograph consisting of two essays written by American economist Murray N. Rothbard (1926–1995) about his teacher Ludwig von Mises (1881–1973).
The first was written and published in the first edition under this title soon after Mises’s death, and has long served as the most popular introduction to the thought of Mises. The second, written in 1988, is more biographical in its content.
