An interventionist, generally speaking, is someone who supports increased economic, social and/or military intervention by the government. An individual should be placed in this category if, during the historical moment in which he moved, he generally supported increased government intervention, but did not generally support nationalization of the factors of production. Such individuals – usually called socialists, fascists, or communists – should be classified as statists.

The following types of people are likely to fit in this category:

  • Modern democrats
  • Many modern republicans
  • Progressives
  • Federalists
