- 1933 – President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the National Industrial Recovery Act, establishing the National Recovery Administration with broad regulatory powers over industry.
- 1933 - The Banking Act of 1933, commonly called Glass-Steagall, was signed into law on June 16, 1933. The Act established deposit insurance in the United States and prohibited banks from underwriting or dealing in securities.
